Indian Summer

Uncle Bob took us sailing this weekend to take advantage of Indian summer! We sailed from Santa Cruz to Capitola, and then we were shuttled to the beach so we could hit the wine bar. I wasn’t scared at all, and didn’t cry once… I guess wine has a sedative effect.

Mom and I are still spending a lot of time walking around the marina on weekends because it’s still so nice out! This really is the best time of year in California. Daddy says the harbor is like the Serengeti with all the spotted seals and exotic birds. Here we are walking… look closely and you’ll see our boat across the harbor!

We strolled around the Live Oak Farmers’ Market on Sunday. I’ve never seen so many vibrant and colorful fruits, veggies, and flowers. Mommy was scoping out the carrots, peas, apples, green beans, and sweet potatos because she’s getting antsy to feed me solids. She’s dusting off the Magic Bullet with me in mind. Organic baby food… how very Santa Cruz!

Although mom’s excited to introduce me to a variety of foods, so far I’ve only eaten rice cereal. Chewing is such a novel sensation! Daddy bought me 6 spoons of my very own, all different colors to catch my attention. Notice the girly bib though… not sure what he was thinking.

During the week, Daddy and I are spending a lot of time renovating the house. We’re planning to move in this winter, and then rent it out during the summers. I’m very patient with Daddy as he shovels loads in and out of our truck at the dump (called Buena Vista Landfill)! Here I am helping him pick out materials at Home Depot (tiny picture of a wee little baby!).

  1. Hey Rudy,
I just can’t keep up to you and all of your adventures. How much fun is that. Being brand new is the best thing in the whole world because your mind is so open to everything you see, touch, and smell. You get to see all those beautiful colours of the flowers your Mommy loves so much for the first time. You can use your imagination and open your mind to the explosion of different colours and smells. As you grow and become an adult that open imaginative mind you have now will be clouded with the things we are taught that make us adults narrow minded. I know it doesn’t make any sense now but it will as you grow. So take in all the beauty of new colours, enjoy the water that rocks you to sleep every night, let your imagination sweep you away to new lands and adventures. Enjoy being brand new and take in everything around you. Keep an open mind and remember one rule stay a child as long as you can because you get to be an adult for the rest of your life.
Big hugs to you, little one and have fun with Uncle Devin and Auntie Wendy. Hope to see you again soon,
    Auntie Heather
